Income-qualifying help available to California customers

California customers can save energy and money through monthly bill discounts and free weatherization services offered by Pacific Power. To qualify, residential customers have to meet the following gross income guidelines:

For households with more than six people, add $517 for each additional individual to determine allowable income level.
For households with more than six people, add $6,200 for each additional individual to determine allowable income level.


Monthly bill discount
Pacific Power offers income-qualifying residential customers a 20 percent discount on monthly bills through its California Alternative Rates for Energy (CARE) program. The program was established in 1989 by the California legislature. All electric and gas utilities regulated by the California Public Utilities Commission are required to offer CARE to income-qualifying residential customers. CARE is funded through a surcharge on non-CARE customers’ monthly bills, as required by the commission.

Weatherization services
Through partnerships with local agencies, Pacific Power provides free weatherization services to qualifying homeowners and renters living in single-family homes, mobile homes or apartments. A variety of measures can be installed to save energy. These include insulation, energy-efficient showerheads, compact fluorescent light bulbs and more. All of these measures are designed to lower bills, while keeping your home comfortable.
