The safety of our customers, community and employees is one of our top concerns. For people whose work involves the installation
or maintenance of streetlights, safety is especially important because of the need to de-energize the power to the light.
In some cases, customers or their contractors have entered our facilities in order to de-energize the circuits. This could
be a potentially dangerous situation and we’d like to clarify this procedure.
For new, non-metered streetlight circuit installations – there must be a point of disconnect that will allow the customer
or contractor to de-energize the lights without entering Pacific Power facilities (see the drawing
in PDF format) to represent the point of disconnect as a customer-owned junction containing a fuse). This fuse will be both
the point-of-change in ownership, as well as the point of disconnect for customers. A pedestal with a fuse or a disconnect
switch is also acceptable upon local approval.
For planned work on existing lighting circuits – if the circuit needs to be de-energized for maintenance purposes, please
call our Customer Contact Center at 1-888-221-7070 no less than 48 hours from the time the disconnect is required. Please
note: Emergency disconnects require a call to the Customer Contact Center as well.
