Pacific Power For Your Home For Your Business

Oregon Renewable Energy Options

Choose from three renewable power options

Pacific Power offers three renewable power options to its Oregon customers. Each option supplies safe, clean energy for future generations, while promoting resource diversity and reducing our reliance on fossil fuels.

By paying a little more on your electricity bill each month, you can be a part of a cleaner, more sustainable future.

More than 20,000 Oregonians are purchasing electricity generated from cleaner, renewable sources — wind, biomass and solar.

More information on each of the options is below.

  • Blue Sky Block lets you purchase wind energy in 100 kilowatt-hour (kwh) increments called blocks for an additional fixed cost of $1.95 per block per month. You can buy as many blocks as you'd like, allowing you to match a portion or all your energy usage to new wind resources around the region.
  • Blue Sky Usage equals your total monthly usage and features energy from 100 percent new renewable sources - wind, biomass and solar. The additional cost is $0.0078 per kwh - less than a penny. For the average home using 1,000 kwh monthly, Blue Sky usage would cost about $8.00 more per month. You would prevent almost 24,000 pounds of CO 2 emissions annually — as much as your car makes when driven about 25,000 miles.*
  • Blue Sky Habitat works like the Usage option (above), but also includes a $2.50 monthly donation to  The Nature Conservancy , a nonprofit organization dedicated to the restoration of native salmon habitat. The average additional monthly cost for this option is $10.30. Go to Blue Sky Habitat  for more information about the program and the restoration projects.

* Pacific Power purchases the exclusive right to claim all of the benefits of electricity produced by renewable energy power plants in the exact amount of Blue Sky purchases projected over a 12-month period. The environmental benefit figures in this brochure are calculated using that 12-month period and the annual average of the environmental effects of the company’s owned or controlled electric system generation resources as of 2006.These effects are determined by continuous emissions monitoring of company facilities, and data provided by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and other sources. The average may change as the company acquires or changes its system generation resources. Some of the funds from your Blue Sky Block purchase may support the construction of new renewable resources in the region, such as solar panels on community facilities that add more renewable energy to the system and help Blue Sky customers make an even bigger difference. Participation in the Blue Sky program is optional, and you may change or cancel your enrollment at any time. Credit criteria apply to enrollments and customers can only be enrolled in one option at a time.
