Pacific Power For Your Home For Your Business

Oregon Renewable Power Options

Choose renewable energy for your business
You can buy renewable energy for your business through our Blue Sky options. Oregon small business customers (on rate schedules 23 or 41) can choose from three options, and large businesses in Oregon (on rate schedules 28, 30, 41L or 48) can choose from two options. Participating in Blue Sky helps bring us closer to a more sustainable future.

Buying renewable energy is good for the environment and good for business. Our Blue Sky program offers you an easy way to meet your organization's environmental goals and assert yourself as a leader in your community. Buying renewable power provides environmental, social and economic benefits, and Blue Sky is an easy way to help make a difference.

  • visibly demonstrate your commitment to environmental stewardship and the community
  • minimize your business operations' impact on the environment; for every kilowatt-hour of wind energy purchased, you can offset carbon dioxide emissions (see our online calculator to help you determine the environmental benefits of your purchase)
  • enhance your public impact and visibility through regional and national recognition programs –  Pacific Power's business partnership programEPA's Green Power Partner program or the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED system
  • increase awareness about the benefits of renewable energy and help encourage more renewable energy development

Already, more than 35,000 Oregonians are purchasing electricity generated from cleaner, renewable sources — wind, biomass and solar.

Our Blue Sky options are overseen by the Oregon Public Utility Commission and the renewable energy is Green-e Energy Certified.

You can sign up at any time. Since there is no enrollment term for any of the renewable options, you can switch back to Basic Service whenever you’d like.

Other information on renewable energy generation
Separate from Blue Sky, we also offer a "net metering" option. This is for customers interested in generating all or a portion of their electricity needs from small-scale solar, wind or other renewable generating equipment. See more information on photovoltaics.

Pacific Power's commitment to renewable energy
As a company, we also generate and purchase renewable power for all our customers as part of our resource mix. Today, we generate or purchase power from four renewable energy facilities in Wyoming, Oregon and Utah. Learn more about Pacific Power's environmental commitment

Pacific Power purchases the exclusive right to claim all of the environmental benefits from the generation of electricity produced by renewable energy power plants in the exact amount of Blue Sky purchases. The environmental benefits figures are based on the average non-base load generation emissions from the Western Energy Coordinating Council (WECC) region, as updated December 2008, and on data and calculations provided by the U .S. Environmental Protection Agency  .

Some of the funds from your Blue Sky block purchase may support the construction of new renewable resources in the region, such as solar panels on community facilities that add more renewable energy to the system and help Blue Sky customers make an even bigger difference.
