Pacific Power For Your Home For Your Business

See ya later, refrigerator

Say "See ya later, refrigerator" and earn a cash incentive from Pacific Power.
Do you have an old refrigerator or freezer in your garage or basement? Or, are you planning to buy a new refrigerator or freezer in the near future? If so, please contact us to pick up your old one. We’ll properly recycle your old unit, and you’ll receive a cash incentive for taking part.

Why get rid of your old refrigerator or freezer?

  • Save energy - Refrigerators built prior to 1990 can use two to three times more energy than a high-efficiency one built today.
  • Save money - By discontinuing the use of a second refrigerator, you can save about $150 a year on your electricity bill.
  • Help the environment - When we say we’ll properly recycle your old refrigerator or freezer, we mean about 90 percent of it will be reused. This is important, since old units are not biodegradable.
  • Get paid - The amount of your incentive varies by state:
    Washington

    $30

    California $35

You’ll also receive a free kit at the time of pickup. The kit contains information on energy efficiency and tools to help you use less electricity.

What is eligible?
This program is offered to all Pacific Power residential customers in Washington and California. Refrigerators must be in working condition and must be plugged in to verify they are working. Units a minimum of 10 cubic feet in size (based on inside measurements) qualify for the program. Please make sure your old unit is empty when it is picked up.

Remember, when shopping for a refrigerator or freezer, look for ENERGY STAR labeled models.

Do the bright thing. Schedule a pick up online now or call 1-866-899-5539.

This program is offered to a limited geographic area from October 15 and March 15 each year because of possible weather and/or road conditions. If you are not sure about your area, please call 1-866-899-5539.

Customers must own the unit(s) being recycled. Limit two units per residential address. A check will be mailed to you within 4-6 weeks after the appliance collection. Pacific Power has contracted with JACO, an appliance recycler, to pick up and recycle refrigerators and freezers.
