Pacific Power For Your Home For Your Business

Herriman

Project overview

In the southwest portion of Salt Lake valley, demands for electrical power are increasing due to rapid growth and additional electricity use in the region. For example, the overall electrical load growth in Herriman has been about 36 percent per year for the last three years. The development of a new transmission line and substation in this area will provide additional capacity to reliably serve the rapidly growing demand.

Rocky Mountain Power recognizes the importance of developing new facilities in a manner that is proactive and integrated with existing and long-range planning efforts of potentially affected municipal, state and federal agencies in this area.

To respond to this need, Rocky Mountain Power proposed to build a new substation in Herriman to convert electricity from 138,000 volts to 12,500 volts for local distribution. The company must also construct a 138,000-volt transmission (power) line from the existing Camp Williams substation in Bluffdale that will interconnect with the new substation (approximately 7 miles in length). The project involves building a new 138,000-volt transmission line in Salt Lake County and South Jordan to interconnect at the existing Oquirrh Substation. In addition, future substation areas will be identified along the corridor. You can read more about this project in the newsletter   distributed in 2006.
