Compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) are highly efficient. They use 75 percent less energy and last 7 to 10 times longer
than standard incandescent bulbs. However, because CFLs contain tiny amounts of mercury (about five milligrams per bulb),
proper disposal is important.
To find out where to dispose of CFLs:
If you can’t find an accommodating recycler in your area, it’s recommended that you wrap the CFL in two sealed plastic bags
before placing the bulb in your normal trash. CFLs should not be incinerated.
