Bend is known for its beautiful surroundings – the fresh air, trees, mountains and rivers make it one of the most livable
areas in the country. You can help protect that environment now – and for the future – by choosing renewable energy through
Pacific Power’s Blue Sky program today.
The City of Bend is taking the lead by purchasing Blue Sky renewable energy equal to 10 percent of its energy use. This purchase
will create clean air benefits for our region equal to taking 283 cars off the road for a year.
To do even more, the City of Bend is joining the Chamber of Commerce and Pacific Power to challenge Bend residents and businesses
to support renewable energy by enrolling in the Blue Sky program by the end of April 2008. And, since the community has exceeded 10 percent
participation, the City of Bend will increase its own purchase of Blue Sky to match the community’s participation level (up
to 15 percent).
By enrolling during the challenge, you will have an even greater impact!
How is the community of Bend doing so far? (updated April 8, 2008)
Great! To date more than 10.5% of the Bend community is enrolled in Blue Sky. The challenge kicked off with 8.6% of the community
supporting renewable energy. The other good news in the Bend area is that Blue Sky program participants are supporting two local projects. The challenge
kicked off at the site of where a 200 kw solar array will be installed at the Centennial Parking Garage in downtown Bend.
Blue Sky customers are also helping jump start a 62 kw solar project on the Central Oregon Community College campus slated
for installation on the Allied Health Science Building.
Join the Bend Blue Sky community challenge We’re challenging Bend residents and businesses to do even more! More than 10 percent of residents and businesses have now
enrolled in Blue Sky renewable energy - Thanks! Now, the City of Bend will continue to increase its purchase of renewable
energy to match the community's purchase level - up to 15 percent.
By reaching the initial goal of 10 percent participation, the community of Bend will prevent the release of 46,500 tons of
carbon dioxide each year, which is equivalent to taking nearly 8,000 cars of the road or planting trees in an area that is
1,000 times larger than Drake Park. And you have surpassed this goal - so your environmental benefits will be even greater.

What is Blue Sky?
The Blue Sky renewable energy program is a voluntary program offered by Pacific Power which allows you to purchase renewable
energy above what Pacific Power includes in its system mix. While we are making strides to add more renewables to our mix,
you can choose to add more by purchasing renewable energy. When you enroll in Blue Sky, you have several options as an Oregon
customer. Each option supports newly developed renewable energy generation and hastens clean energy development for future
generations, while promoting resource diversity and reducing our reliance on fossil fuels.
By paying a little more on your electricity bill each month, you can be a part of a cleaner, more sustainable future.
More information on each of the options:
Customers have a range of options when it comes to buying Blue Sky renewable energy: Blue Sky Block, Usage or Habitat. Buying
just one, 100 kilowatt-hour increment of Blue Sky Block costs only $1.95 per month. Customers can buy as many blocks as they
wish. Blue Sky Usage allows customers to offset all of their energy usage with renewable resources for .0078 cents - less
than a penny - per kilowatt-hour, while with Blue Sky Habitat, customers buy renewable energy at the same rate as Blue Sky
Usage plus make a donation to The Nature Conservancy of Oregon to preserve and restore native fish habitat. Large customers
can buy renewable power in bulk at a discount through Blue Sky QS. Participation is optional, and customers can increase their
participation or withdraw at any time.
