Cottage Grove is known for its spectacular surroundings – the fresh air, covered bridges and rivers make it one of the most beautiful
communities in the country. You can help protect that environment now – and for the future – by choosing renewable energy
through the
Greening the Grove renewable energy challege today.
The City of Cottage Grove is taking the lead by purchasing Blue Sky renewable energy equal to 10 percent of its facilities energy use (or 189 100-kilowatt
hour blocks per month). This purchase will create environmental benefits for our region equal to taking 39 cars off the road
for a year or planting more than 44,500 trees!
To do even more, the City of Cottage Grove is joining forces with Pacific Power and Emerald People's Utility District to challenge Cottage
Grove residents and businesses to support renewable energy by enrolling in renewable energy programs by September 1, 2008.
How is the community doing so far?
(updated September 3, 2008)
To date more than 5.4 percent of thecommunity is supporting renewable energy! We still need 29 enrollments to meet the challenge
goal.
Join the Greening the Grove challenge today! We’re challenging Cottage Grove residents and businesses to make a difference! By reaching the goal of 6 percent participation,
the community of Cottage Grove will prevent the release of 2,250 tons of carbon dioxide each year, which is equivalent to
taking nearly 630 cars of the road or planting 1,217 acres of trees.

What is Blue Sky?
The Blue Sky renewable energy program is a voluntary program offered by Pacific Power which allows you to purchase renewable
energy above what Pacific Power includes in its system mix. While we are making strides to add more renewables to our mix,
you can choose to add more by purchasing renewables. When you enroll in Blue Sky, you have several options as an Oregon customer.
Each option supports newly developed renewable energy generation and hastens clean energy development for future generations,
while promoting resource diversity and reducing our reliance on fossil fuels.
By paying a little more on your electricity bill each month, you can be a part of a cleaner, more sustainable future.
More information on each of the options:
Customers have a range of options when it comes to buying Blue Sky renewable energy: Blue Sky Block, Usage or Habitat. Buying

a penny) per kilowatt-hour, while with Blue Sky Habitat, customers buy renewable energy at the same rate as Blue Sky Usage
plus make a donation to The Nature Conservancy of Oregon to preserve and restore native fish habitat. Large customers can
