Stateline Wind Project

What’s taller than a 20-story building and able to provide electricity to more than 60,000 homes? Take a drive along the Oregon-Washington border and the answer becomes clear.

The Stateline Wind Generating Project’s nearly 400 wind turbines produce 263 megawatts of clean, renewable energy. The turbines are 242 feet tall, with 154-foot diameter blades.

Wind power accounts for less than one percent of the electric generation mix in the U.S., yet it is among the most affordable forms of energy. With federal incentives, wind power ranges in price from 3 to 6 cents per kilowatt hour (kwh), depending on transmission and other costs. It also produces no air emissions and every kwh of wind energy produced means one to two pounds of carbon dioxide emissions is not released by other plants.

PacifiCorp Power Marketing, Inc. (PPM), will buy the project's output for 25 years and market the energy across the West. Stateline is owned and operated by FPL Energy.
