You can increase the power of wind

If you support pollution-free power, here's your chance to help bring more of it online. Our Blue Sky program allows customers to purchase blocks of clean, renewable wind energy. All the electricity generated from the wind farms goes into the western U.S. power grid. Your purchase helps boost demand and increase the mix of wind power into the system.

Here’s how it works

Blue Sky wind energy is sold in 100 kilowatt-hour (kwh) blocks for $1.95 per block per month. The cost of your Blue Sky purchase will appear on your monthly bill, in addition to your regular charges. Your payments will go directly toward the purchase of wind power from newly developed wind farms.

Neither you nor your electric equipment will notice any difference in power quality or reliability.

Not only is Blue Sky overseen by state regulators, it is certified by Renew 2000, an organization formed to ensure consumers get what they're paying for when they buy renewable power products. Blue Sky meets their rigorous standards and is reviewed annually.

Environmental Benefits

Wind power is one of the cleanest forms of renewable energy. It produces no air pollutants, wastewater, smog or acid rain. Every kilowatt of wind energy generated displaces electricity that would otherwise have been generated by fossil fuel or hydro plants. New wind power development reduces the emissions of "greenhouse gases" into the environment. Wind power resources built today will provide energy for generations to come.

For Oregon customers: Under Oregon's new restructuring law, which took effect March 1, 2002, residential and small business customers can purchase power from a portfolio of regulated options.
