PORTLAND, Ore. — PacifiCorp announced today that the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) on December 29, 2005 issued an order formally approving the indirect transfer of control of certain remaining nuclear licenses which will occur upon closing of the acquisition of the company by MidAmerican Energy Holdings Company.

REXBURG, Idaho — Utah Power’s charitable arm, the PacifiCorp Foundation for Learning, has awarded a total of $7,000 to Idaho arts organizations for programs that will impact youth. The Idaho International Folk Dance Festival was awarded $5,000 for next year’s Youth Culture Days event and the Idaho Falls Arts Council was awarded $2,000 for its Children’s Art Education series.

Amid media reports of “donor fatigue” this holiday season, PacifiCorp employees have rallied to contribute $872,000 to nonprofits that assist with health, education, the environment and hurricane relief. A match by the company’s charitable arm, the PacifiCorp Foundation for Learning, boosted the total contribution to $1.6 million.

The grants are part of more than $200,000 awarded by the PacifiCorp Foundation in December across the electric utility’s six-state service area.

Pacific Power files for recovery of net wholesale purchased power costs to serve Wyoming customers

CHEYENNE, Wyo.— Pacific Power today filed a pass-on application with the Wyoming Public Service Commission (PSC) to recover increased net wholesale purchased power costs to serve Wyoming customers. The utility has requested that the PSC issue a notice and order 30 days after the filing. Any rate recovery approved through the pass-on application will provide a direct dollar-for-dollar reduction to the revenue increase requested in Pacific Power’s pending general rate case, filed with the PSC in October.

CASPER, Wyo. – In response to a request for assistance from NorthWestern Energy, PacifiCorp has deployed a seven member crew and equipment from Casper, as well as crews and equipment from Salt Lake City and American Fork, Utah, to help restore electricity to several South Dakota communities hit hard by ice and snow storms last week. PacifiCorp will aid in rebuilding damaged transmission lines near Watertown, South Dakota, located about 100 miles north of Sioux Falls.

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.—Pacific Power today filed a general rate request with the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) to recover increasing operational costs including power costs, health care, insurance and pension costs and significant capital investments. Pacific Power's case requests an overall increase of $11 million, or 15.6 percent. The company is requesting an implementation date of Jan. 1, 2007.

Managing a coal-fired power plant presented a new challenge for O'Connor, who has managed the operation and maintenance of hydroelectric facilities in the Pacific Northwest for the majority of his career.
