MEDFORD, Ore. — When Henselman Realty & Management looked to increase the energy efficiency of its two Medford office properties,
it also decided to green their fuel use.
Henselman is buying Pacific Power’s Blue Sky Block renewable energy for its Goldy Building, located at 107 East Main St.,
and Big Pines Plaza, at 32 West 6th St. #C. Blue Sky enables customers to help bring more renewable energy into the region.
Energy generated from wind, biomass, solar and geothermal helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Wind power produces no air
pollutants, wastewater, smog or acid rain.
“Promoting the use of alternate forms of energy – rather than continuing our consumption of limited coal, gas and oil resources
– is in line with our company’s desire to help the environment,” said Scott A. Henselman, certified property manager and broker
of Henselman Realty & Management.
Henselman’s purchase of 24 blocks of Blue Sky each month reduces carbon dioxide emissions by almost 29 tons a year, which
has the same environmental benefit as not driving 61,700 miles or planting 5,640 trees.
“We also worked to increase the energy efficiency of the buildings,” Henselman said. “We converted older, high-power consumption
lighting to energy-efficient systems, and replaced heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems when possible with high-efficiency
units. Also, the hot water systems have been replaced with on-demand systems that lower energy use.”
Henselman Realty & Management is a full-service investment real estate firm, specializing in the leasing, sales and management
of investment properties in Medford. It also provides investment analysis and consulting, and has been in business for almost
25 years.
Oregon customers also can choose Blue Sky Usage, in which customers receive their equivalent energy usage from renewable resources,
or Blue Sky Habitat, in which customers buy renewable energy, plus make a donation to The Nature Conservancy of Oregon to
preserve native fish habitat. Large customers can buy renewable power in bulk at a discount through Blue Sky Quantity Savings.
Enrollment in Blue Sky is optional and customers can change their participation or withdraw at any time. For more information
