Pacific Power Fund provides grant for Grants Pass ball fields

GRANTS PASS, Ore. — The PacifiCorp Foundation’s Pacific Power Fund recently provided $3,000 toward community efforts to upgrade Russ Werner Track and Field, Mel Ingram Field and to build a softball complex.

The three projects provide an expansion of educational and recreational activities for local students and the entire community. Improvements at Mel Ingram Field and Russ Werner Track and Field will allow the school district to offer
year-round use of these facilities. In addition, a new softball facility is needed in Grants Pass.

“As girls’ softball grows in popularity, there is an increased need for fields,” said Monte Mendenhall, regional community manager for Pacific Power. “A new softball complex will provide greater equity for girls’ programs with the existing baseball programs.”

The facilities will be used by everyone from children enrolled in the school district to a host of community programs including the Boys and Girls Club, Grants Pass Family YMCA, and the city of Grants Pass Parks and Recreation Department.

The recent PacifiCorp Foundation’s Pacific Power Fund grants are one of four annual funding cycles for programs in education, health and human services, arts and culture, and civic and community betterment.
