Oregon HEAT, Project HELP Receive $510,000 from Pacific Power for Neighbors in Need
September 07, 2012
PORTLAND, Ore. – Pacific Power customers, employees, retirees and shareholders helped 8,722 neighbors pay their electric bills by donating $510,000 to non-profit energy assistance agencies in Oregon, Washington and California.
Over the 12-month program year, Pacific Power collected donations from customers, employees and retirees who opted to contribute a fixed amount through their monthly energy bill or via a contribution envelope. Pacific Power shareholders also donated to Oregon HEAT and Project HELP.
“We see the communities we serve struggle due to the poor economy. Many of our customers have found themselves in unexpected financial circumstances, and needing more help than ever,” said Pat Reiten, president of Pacific Power. “We’re proud to partner with local agencies that lend a helping hand.”
“Our customers have been very generous with their donations, and we hope to continue that tradition,” said Marisa DeCristoforo, Pacific Power program manager and Oregon HEAT board member. “It’s important to know that all customer donations stay in local communities, that way neighbors can help neighbors.”
Pacific Power customers interested in helping their neighbors can do so by enrolling in Pacific Power’s fixed donation program or through contribution envelopes included with bills twice a year. The fixed donation program allows customers to donate any even dollar amount, starting at $1 per month, which is then incorporated into their monthly bill. All donations are tax-deductible and are forwarded to Oregon HEAT or local agencies that administer Project HELP funds in Pacific Power’s northern California and Washington service areas. These non-profit agencies verify eligibility and allocate funds to those in need. All funds contributed remain within the donor’s county. To enroll in the fixed donation program call Pacific Power toll-free at 1-888-221-7070.
Customers who need bill assistance themselves can talk with Pacific Power representatives who can help with payment plans that work for their individual needs or direct them to agencies that may be able to help. Pacific Power’s customer service number is 1-888-221-7070.
