Reporting an Outage
Steps:
1. Before you call us, check your breakers or fuse box to determine if the cause of the outage is a blown fuse or tripped breaker. Look for lights at your neighbors' homes to see if they are affected.
2. If it's not a breaker or blown fuse, call us to report the outage toll free at 1-877-508-5088. Assuming someone else has called can delay response time and we want to make sure your power is back on as soon as possible. We work hard to keep outage information current, so a recorded message may inform you that your outage was already reported. You may also request an automatic callback for updates.
3. Turn off all electrical equipment to prevent overloading the circuits in your home when power is restored. Most major appliances can be turned off at your breaker box.
4. If your lights are very dim or are unusually bright when the power returns, turn off the power at the breaker or fuse box and call again. There may still be a problem.
5. Be sure and check on any friends and neighbors who may need extra help. Keep refrigerators and freezers closed to reduce food spoilage. If unopened and full, food can last for two days.
