Segment D - Windstar to Populus
Project Overview
Providing safe, reliable electrical service at reasonable rates is our company’s commitment to our customers.
PacifiCorp has partnered with Idaho Power on the Gateway West high-voltage transmission line. The Windstar to Populus segment is part of the Gateway West project. This segment will stretch more than 400 miles starting near Glenrock, Wyoming, proceeding south to Medicine Bow and then spanning across southern Wyoming to the Populus substation near Downey, Idaho. The Windstar to Populus segment will include five expanded or new substations and will enable access to existing and new generating resources, including wind, and deliver electricity from these sources to our customers throughout the region.

Additional Information About the Project
The Bureau of Land Management is currently developing an Environmental Impact Statement on Gateway West – a process that began in June 2008 with Public Scoping meetings and is currently nearing completion with the BLM issuing a final EIS April 26, 2013. This initiated a 60-day public comment period, followed by the BLM issuing a Record of Decision in September 2013. Public Participation
On April 26, 2013, the BLM issued a final EIS for the Gateway West project, initiating a 60-day public comment period that closes June 25, 2013. More information, including details on public meetings scheduled from May 6-16, 2013, can be found on the BLM's website.
Public input is an important part of the transmission line development process and is welcomed at all stages. Public meetings have been held at various stages throughout the development of the environmental review process and will continue through the permitting process.
