Blue Sky Community Challenges
Pacific Power was one of the first utilities in the country to embrace the concept of a renewable energy community challenge.
Community challenges are multi-month campaigns in which local government, Pacific Power and other community organizations work together to increase participation in the Blue SkySM program to reach a participation goal.
In many cases, these communities have achieved their EPA Green Power Community status through their community partnership with Pacific Power. This means that members of the community came together and purchased renewable energy through the Blue Sky program to meet the EPA’s minimum purchase benchmarks based on the community’s overall electricity load.
In fact, 12 of the 24 EPA Green Power communities are in Pacific Power and Rocky Mountain Power service areas.
Pacific Power communities that have participated in community challenges include:
- Bend, Oregon
- Walla Walla, Washington
- Hood River, Oregon
- Corvallis , Oregon
- Lincoln City, Oregon
- Jacksonville, Oregon
- Pendleton, Oregon
- Cottage Grove, Oregon
- Klamath Falls, Oregon
- Dayton, Washington
- Portland, Oregon
