Transmission Projects

Transmission line construction

PacifiCorp Transmission is leading an ambitious, $6 billion-plus investment plan to expand the transmission system in the West. The company continues to permit and construct needed line additions, including the Energy Gateway projects that are slated to add 2,000 miles of transmission lines. Through our Integrated Resource Plan, we take a collaborative approach to plan this infrastructure with a variety of customers and stakeholders and to ensure it integrates well with other utility systems in the Western Electricity Coordinating Council (WECC).

Our grid operates within the Energy Imbalance Market that was created by PacifiCorp and the California Independent System Operator. The EIM uses a sophisticated system to automatically balance demand every five minutes with the lowest cost energy available.
