North Coast Challenge

This summer, residents and business owners along the northern Oregon coast will be rising to the Blue Sky challenge with an opportunity to support renewable energy. The communities include Clatsop County and the communities of Warrenton, Astoria, Gearhart, Seaside and Cannon Beach are setting out to enroll 500 new homes and businesses in the Blue Sky program.

Program representatives will be in these areas to provide information about renewable energy options. The best part? If the North Coast meets their goal, the community will be awarded a 1-kilowatt solar energy installation!

The challenge is already off to a great start, as Clatsop county has the eighth highest Blue Sky participation rate out of all Oregon counties! And they have signed on to support Blue Sky at the EPA Green Power Community level. Gearhart is also setting out to become an EPA Green Power Community.

Cannon Beach currently holds the EPA Green Power Community designation.

Astoria, Warrenton and Seaside also have impressive participation rates. With a solid foundation, the Pacific Power Blue Sky team looks forward to partnering with the North Coast to support the growth of renewable energy!
