I am signed up for a great renewable energy program through Pacific Power and want to make sure my friends and family know about it. With the Blue Sky renewable energy program, you can sign up to pay a little more on your bill and support renewable energy equal to all or part of your actual energy usage. You might not realize how much of a difference supporting renewable energy can make, but the average Oregon household that supports Blue Sky equal to 100% of their energy use can avoid about 14,000 pounds of carbon dioxide emissions per year that they are enrolled.

If you haven’t signed up already, it’s easy. The average customer pays about $8-10 more a month to support renewable energy equal to 100% of their energy use. Or, you can sign up to support fixed increments of renewable energy starting at just $1.95 each month. Check out their calculator to see how the environmental impact and cost changes based on the option and level you want to support.

There are a ton of things we can do to help the environment from recycling to using alternative transportation. I like Blue Sky because I can make a real difference and once I’ve signed up, I don’t have to remember to do anything more. The power company will take care of the rest and send me a letter each year letting me know about the difference my support has made. They also offer renewable energy project tours and have a Facebook page that keeps me up-to-date on the program, the Blue Sky community, and the industry.

If you have questions, let me know. Otherwise, you can enroll at pacificpower.net/bluesky or by calling 1-800-769-3717.
