Mt. Ashland solar

Mt. Ashland, a nonprofit ski area in Southern Oregon which operates under a special use permit from the U.S. Forest Service, installed a 27.8-kilowatt solar power system on its south-facing vehicle shop roof. The ski area pursued this project to lower energy costs and reduce its consumption of fossil fuels.

The project will benefit the community by showing that even nonprofit organizations can install large solar projects, show leadership in the ski industry (which relies on cold winters), as well as joining with a local effort to reach 10% alternate sources of energy by 2020.
