Tamastslikt Cultural Institute Solar

Tamastslikt Cultural Center

The Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation installed a 123-kilowatt solar carport at their Tamástslikt Cultural Institute (TCI) in 2016. Located in Pendleton, Oregon, TCI museum and event center focuses on the living history of the region including a traditional of environmental stewardship.

This project joins a distributed scale wind project at the museum, which are both helping TCI achieve net zero energy usage. That means TCI will not use more power than it generates on site. The installation took advantage of local equipment and labor and features an exhibit specifically related to energy and sustainability. Together, the two Blue Sky funded projects will supply 25 percent of the center’s power needs.
