Pacific Power Blue Sky’s Habitat fund helps to restore and preserve habitats for Oregon native fish. Made possible by our Blue Sky Habitat participants, in 2022, the following projects received funding through The Freshwater Trust, including Watts Toppin Dam Fish Passage Project in the Applegate River. This particular project involved a strong collaboration with the local farmers and ranchers, with a primary goal of providing year-round volitional fish passage to all life stages and species at the Watts Toppin Diversion.
The Blue Sky Habitat Funded project will also remove the second of three major fish passage barriers to allow access to high quality upstream habitats on Williams Creek, which local farmers and ranchers rely on for irrigation. In addition, the project upgraded the irrigation system which will reduce maintenance and provide irrigation security, especially during droughts.
