When you choose to support Pacific Power’s Blue Sky Block program, your impact goes far beyond matching your home's energy use with renewable energy; it directly contributes to positive, lasting change in communities across the West. Since its inception a quarter-century ago, Blue Sky has empowered customers to drive demand for regional clean energy, and a portion of funds from participant enrollment in the Block option can support vital community-based renewable energy projects. Let's explore some examples of how Blue Sky participants have been helping to encourage community empowerment and foster a more sustainable future.

Umpqua Community Center

In Oregon, Blue Sky Block participants recently supported a 26-kilowatt solar installation on the Umpqua Community Center. Since 1995, the Umpqua Community Center has aimed to provide outreach through art, health and education activities for members of their rural community. This solar installation will help reduce the building’s operating costs, which allows them to focus more of their time and resources on achieving their mission.

Yreka Carnegie Library

In California, Blue Sky Block funds are supporting the installation of a 24.5-kilowatt solar array at the Carnegie Library restoration in Yreka. This initiative exemplifies how Blue Sky participants are helping to enhance public spaces with sustainable energy solutions. This solar array is part of a larger, multi-year community effort led by the Siskiyou County Economic Development Council to transform the shuttered historic Carnegie building into a valuable community asset for Yreka, with a grand opening planned for October 2025. The project's collaborative nature, bringing together multi-sector and multi-agency initiatives, highlights how Blue Sky support contributes to significant community revitalization.
