Blue Sky community projects are helping connect renewable energy to the places people rely on most, including housing that provides stability and support for vulnerable neighbors. By pairing clean energy installations with services that promote health, safety and opportunity, Blue Sky Block participants are helping communities move toward a more resilient energy future.

Linn Benton Housing Authority Valor Place

The Linn Benton Housing Authority manages 13 properties in the mid-Willamette Valley of Oregon, providing housing stability for vulnerable populations. The Valor Place project targets two populations, homeless veterans and individuals who experience severe and persistent mental illness, with the goal of increasing health, wellness, resilience and self-sufficiency for the residents. LBHA was awarded Blue Sky funding to install solar and battery storage at Valor Place in an effort to increase resilience and align with the City of Albany’s strategic plan to promote healthy, sustainable and affordable development that serves the region’s most vulnerable populations.

Blue Sky Block participants help bring solar and battery projects like this to life, improving reliability and helping ensure critical services remain available when residents need them most. As more customers choose Blue Sky Block, the program can continue to extend these benefits to additional neighborhoods and organizations across the West, strengthening both local communities and the region’s clean energy future.
