In alignment with Oregon House Bill (HB) 2021, Pacific Power has developed a pilot program for community-based renewable energy (CBRE) projects at critical community facilities supporting solar generation paired with battery storage.
HB 2021 Section 1 defines a CBRE project as “one or more renewable energy systems that interconnect to utility distribution or transmission assets and may be combined with microgrids, storage systems or demand response measures, or energy-related infrastructure that promotes climate resiliency or other such measures, and that:
a) Provide a direct benefit to a particular community through a community-benefits agreement or direct ownership by a local government, nonprofit community organization or federally-recognized Tribe; or
b) Result in increased resiliency or community stability, local jobs, economic development or direct energy cost savings to families and small businesses.”
Pacific Power’s community-based renewable energy pilot program includes options for communities looking to develop projects, including:
Pacific Power will work with you to conduct an initial assessment to determine site suitability for a CBRE project in your community.
You will receive a report about adding a solar-plus-storage project at your critical facility, including the costs, benefits and detailed information about implementation.
A Pacific Power representative will meet with you to discuss the report findings and next steps.
