Electric vehicle and infrastructure funding grants now available

PORTLAND, Ore. — Non-profits, local governments and other non-residential Pacific Power customers in Oregon are encouraged to apply for the Electric Mobility Grant. Launched in June 2020, over $1.3 million is available for electric mobility projects in Oregon. The program is designed to assist underserved areas and frontline communities by providing more electric vehicle support and charging options. The Electric Mobility Grant is funded by the sale of Oregon Clean Fuels Program credits.

“Electric vehicles and supporting infrastructure are increasingly in-demand by customers and communities across the state” said Cory Scott, managing director of customer solutions. “This grant program is just one of the ways Pacific Power is helping prepare communities for more electric vehicles on the road.”

According to Eva DeCesaro, senior product manager – electric transportation, Pacific Power’s Transportation Electrification Plan, which was approved by the Oregon Public Utilities Commission in June, highlights the Company’s existing programs like the Electric Mobility Grant and  provides a framework that will help guide the company on future electric vehicle programs.

The Transportation Electrification Plan lays out Pacific Power’s commitment to accelerating the adoption of electric transportation options, reiterates the company’s support for statewide transportation policy, reaffirms Pacific Power’s commitment to removing barriers and illustrates how we’re reducing the emission of greenhouse gas from Oregon’s transportation sector.”

One of the ways Pacific Power is removing barriers is through the Electric Mobility Grant to help non-residential customers develop community-driven electric transportation projects. This round of grant funding will award nearly $1.3 million to projects that advance transportation electrification. Potential projects include electric school buses or public electric charging stations.

Funding awards will cover up to 100 percent of the project cost. All non-residential Pacific Power customers in Oregon are eligible to apply with preference given to community-focused organizations, such as school and transit districts, and 501(c)(3) and city, county and regional governments. Applications will be accepted up to August 31, 2020 at 5:00 PM. Recipients will be announced in September 2020.

In addition to the Electric Mobility Grant, Pacific Power also offers a free electric charging station technical assistance program. The program supports non-residential customers with evaluating charging station installation options and costs. The technical assistance program is available at no cost and includes a site visit, analysis of electric vehicle technology options, costs, rates, and best practices for siting, configuring, installing and managing equipment.
