Pacific Power plans to re-energize customers in Gasquet

CRESCENT CITY, CA - With favorable fire conditions and a reduction in evacuation levels in the area, Pacific Power crews have successfully installed a large generator that will provide power to customers in Gasquet. Power will be restored to the Gasquet area in coordination with the Del Norte County Emergency Operations Center beginning 4 pm today, 8/31/23.

Because of damage to the power lines and infrastructure serving Patrick Creek, Pacific Power is unable to re-energize that infrastructure until crews can make the necessary repairs. A plan is in place to begin the restoration process when the evacuation order for the area is lifted.

“Thanks to the unprecedented and tireless work of our crews in the field, nearly all customers in Del Norte County now have running electricity,” said Allen Berreth, Pacific Power’s Vice President of Transmission and Distribution Operations. “There is still work to do to repair and restore the transmission lines when we can access the area. We are committed to ensuring our customers have power to their homes while that work is being completed.

Due to continued wildfire activity in the transmission corridor serving Crescent City, it remains unsafe to re-energize the transmission line serving the city and surrounding areas. Pacific Power continues to closely monitor all fire activity in the region and will re-energize the transmission lines when it is safe to do so.
