Small business non-lighting

New in 2023, the Wattsmart small business offer will expand to include enhanced incentives for non-lighting measures to provide more opportunities for small businesses to save energy and money. Eligible small business customers must use an approved Wattsmart Business Vendor to qualify for these enhanced initiatives.

  • Incentives are available for engine block heater controls, ductless heat pumps, connected thermostats, anti-sweat heater controls, electronically commutated motors (ECM), and heat pump water heaters.
  • Washington small businesses on rate schedule 24 with annual usage less than or equal to 300,000 kWh (non-residential facility total) and/or total non-residential facility square footage of 20,000 square feet or less are eligible to participate.
  • If you meet the above eligibility requirements and have annual usage less than or equal to 30,000 kWh annually (non-residential facility total) or are located in a Highly Impacted Community, you may be eligible for incentives up to 100% of eligible measure costs. See details below.

Process and incentives for Small Business Non-lighting Projects in Washington

  1. Schedule a free facility assessment by a Wattsmart Business Approved Vendor. If you would like to contact an Approved Vendor to see if you qualify, call us at 1-855-805-7231 or email us.
  2. Review and approve proposal and sign incentive application. You can assign your incentive to the Approved Vendor, and they will pass 100% of the eligible incentive on their invoice to you and take care of the paperwork.
  3. The Approved Vendor will install your new equipment. We may request to inspect your upgrades to verify energy savings and quality of installation.
  4. Pay the Approved Vendor the balance of your project costs.
  5. Enjoy energy savings and the upgrades!

Washington small businesses on rate schedule 24 with annual usage less than or equal to 300,000 kWh (non-residential facility total) and/or total non-residential facility square footage of 20,000 square feet or less are eligible to participate.

Named Community small businesses on rate schedule 24 with annual usage less than or equal to 300,000 kWh (non-residential facility total) are eligible to participate. Named Community small businesses in Highly Impacted Communities defined as census tracts meeting at least one of the following two criteria:

  • The census tract is covered or partially covered by ‘Indian Country’ as defined in and designated by statute.
  • The census tract ranks a 9 or 10 on the Environmental Health Disparities Map, as designated by the Washington Department of Health (DOH).

Wattsmart Business Approved Vendors will verify eligibility upon scheduling free facility assessments.
