Who’s eligible?

As part of our small business incentive offer, we have enhanced incentives for very small businesses, and small businesses in highly impacted communities.

Washington Small Business Lighting Incentives: Washington small businesses on rate schedule 24 with annual usage less than or equal to 200,000 kWh (non-residential facility total) and/or total non-residential facility square footage of 20,000 square feet or less are eligible to participate.

Washington Very Small Business and Named Community Small Business Incentives: If you meet the above eligibility requirements and have annual usage less than or equal to 30,000 kWh annually (non-residential facility total) or are located in a Highly Impacted Community, you may be eligible for incentives up to 100% of eligible project costs. 

Lighting incentives for small businesses

  1. GET QUALIFIED: Contact a Wattsmart Small Business Approved Contractor to see if you qualify and schedule a free facility assessment. Call us at 1-855-805-7231 or email us at wattsmartbusiness@pacificpower.net.
  2. COMPLETE YOUR APPLICATION: Your Approved Contractor will prepare a project proposal, which will include the incentive and any remaining project costs not covered by the incentive. Once you review it and sign, your contractor will begin. You’ll assign your incentive to the Approved Contractor, who will pass 100% of the incentive on their invoice to you and take care of the paperwork.
  3. GET THE UPGRADE: The Approved Contractor will install your new lighting. We may request to inspect your lighting upgrades to verify energy savings and quality of installation.
  4. SETTLE ANY REMAINING COSTS: You’ll pay the Approved Contractor the balance of any project costs not covered by the incentives.
  5. Enjoy energy savings and better lighting!

Notes for small business lighting incentives:

  1. Incentives for equipment listed in this table are only available for small business customers meeting customer eligibility requirements (see Customer Eligibility tab).
  2. To be eligible for the incentives listed, the new lighting system must use less energy than the existing lighting system replaced or the baseline lighting system as determined by Pacific Power.
  3. Incentives are paid per kWh annual energy savings as determined by Pacific Power. Incentives are capped at 90% of Energy Efficiency Project Costs. Energy Efficiency Project Costs and energy savings are subject to Pacific Power approval.
  4. Eligible lighting equipment is defined in the list above.
  5. Lighting control incentives ($/kWh) are paid per kWh annual energy savings from the installation of lighting controls as determined by Pacific Power.
  6. For non-general illuminance lighting, please see the Lighting System Retrofits Incentive Table.

  2. To be eligible for the incentives listed, the new lighting system must use less energy than the existing lighting system replaced or the baseline lighting system as determined by Pacific Power.

  4. To be eligible for program incentives, installed lighting must be listed on one of the following Qualified Product Lists (QPL): DesignLights Consortium or ENERGY STAR®.

Very small businesses on rate schedule 24 with annual usage less than or equal to 30,000 kWh (non-residential facility total) are eligible to participate.

Named Community small businesses on rate schedule 24 with annual usage less than or equal to 200,000 kWh (non-residential facility total) and/or total non-residential facility square footage of 20,000 square feet or less are eligible to participate. Named Community small businesses are located in Highly Impacted Communities defined as census tracts meeting at least one of the following two criteria:

  • The census tract is covered or partially covered by ‘Indian Country’ as defined in and designated by statute.
  • The census tract ranks a 9 or 10 on the Environmental Health Disparities Map, as designated by the Washington Department of Health (DOH).

Wattsmart Small Business Approved Contractors will verify eligibility upon scheduling free facility lighting assessments.
