Pacific Power is prepared to respond to weather-related outages ahead of approaching winter storm

PORTLAND, Ore. — Pacific Power is monitoring continued winter weather in the Pacific Northwest regions of Oregon, California and Washington this weekend. The weather forecast indicates the potential for the accumulation of snow and/or ice Friday night into Saturday, which could cause power outages.

Pacific Power’s meteorology team is closely monitoring the storm and crews are on standby and ready to respond to weather-related outages. During the recent wind event earlier this week, a total of 180 field crews responded to more than 27,000 outages in Oregon, and similar resources will be staged and ready to respond to this weekend’s weather.

Pacific Power encourages customers to always be prepared for outages and supports state and local emergency management organizations, recommending Oregonians have an emergency plan for up to 72 hours without essential services.

Here are some simple steps customers can take to prepare and stay informed:

As a reminder, stay away from all downed power lines and utility lines. Even if the lines are not sparking, they could be energized and extremely dangerous. Customers should avoid both downed trees and powerlines as well as keep pets far away from those areas.

If you spot a downed line, call 911 and then report the outage to Pacific Power at
