Pacific Power is responding to additional weather-related outages in southern Oregon

MEDFORD, OR – Pacific Power crews continue to respond to multiple scattered outages caused by winter weather across our southern Oregon service area, affecting roughly 2,100 customers, after a second wave of winter weather caused impacts to the electrical system.

Field crews have made steady progress in their restoration efforts, and most customers should have power restored by the end of the day. Due to challenging conditions and access issues in some areas, some customers may experience extended outages and should be prepared for the possibility of being without power overnight.

“We understand losing power can be disruptive and inconvenient, particularly during winter weather,” said Erik Brookhouse, vice president of system operations. “We want to thank customers for their patience as our crews continue their difficult work in these tough conditions.”

Pacific Power encourages customers to always be prepared for outages and supports state and local emergency management organizations, recommending Oregonians have an emergency plan for up to 72 hours without essential services.

Here are some simple steps customers can take to prepare and stay informed:

As a reminder, stay away from all downed power lines and utility lines. Even if the lines are not sparking, they could be energized and extremely dangerous. Customers should avoid both downed trees and powerlines as well as keep pets far away from those areas.

If you spot a downed line, call 911 and then report the outage to Pacific Power at 1-877-508-5088.
